On March 24, the Indianapolis version of the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K was supposed to take place in Indianapolis, and thanks to my relationship with BibRave, I was scheduled to run it. Unfortunately, as the week went on, the weather was looking worse. And on Friday, we received the following email:
All 15K racers are now running the 5K. Jason and I discussed it at this point, and we made the call that because of the weather (and the fact that we live an hour and a half away in Cincinnati), we were not going to make the trip. It was a safety concern, and we would likely be driving in the snow as it moved East to Cincinnati.

I was lucky though, I was not sure what our plan would be for this race and when I would get to Indianapolis, so I paid the extra few dollars to have my race packet mailed to me. That way I would not feel pressure to get there the day before (as there was no race day packet pickup!) with it being an hour and a half away. Approximately two weeks before the race, my packet arrived at my house, including the 1/4 zip that the race provides rather than a shirt.

I took the quarter zip out for a test run prior to the race. I get it, that might be some bad juju. Maybe that is why it snowed? Because I wore race gear before a race?
But it is a nice pullover. It is warm, it is high necked to keep things warm, and the zipper is covered to avoid any chin chafing if you have it zipped all the way up! It has logos on the chest as well as the sleeve on one side, but they are not logos that are unslightly.
Overall, all parts of the gear and things leading up to the race were wonderful. It was so unfortunate that we had a snowstorm that just threw a wrench into everything. I am very bummed about it, and hope to be back next spring!
