July 4! Celebrations!

It is always strange to have a day off in the middle of the week, and last week, we had one of those with July 4th! After going to work last Monday, we had Tuesday off.

I started the day with my run. I was scheduled to race a 10K, and that is not even worth discussing.
It was SO FREAKING hot. I ended up racing for a bit of time, and then literally stood up straight and stepped off the course. I took off my bib and then just finished my run without the pressure of racing. It was definitely a mental breakdown. I know I have some work to do. Especially because my fall goal is Chicago, where I had a mental hiccup before.

Jason went to the store on Monday (he took the day off) and picked up fun "firework" type things for an almost 4 year old. That means sparklers and those little poppers. Addie had an absolute blast playing with those things both on Monday night and Tuesday. First up, Monday night!

I love the smile on her face in that first picture. She clearly was enamored by sparklers, which I love.

We had more sparklers on the 4th, and she literally wore her pjs ALL DAY LONG.

I am so glad she enjoyed it. It makes me laugh to just look at her holding those things!

We had ribs and corn on the cob for dinner with some beers (Addie had one bite of corn and then ate a banana and greek yogurt - it could be worse, right?) which felt like a pretty solid summer holiday meal. We were solo, which was totally fine for me, because I was truly not in the mood for a cookout or party due to the mental thing during the race.

So after a fun holiday with my little family, going back to work on Wednesday was TOUGH. Hopefully I can figure out what I want to do with my life. I think that can help my running stuff too...
