Race Recap: Bockfest 5K

This past weekend was the 5th Annual Bockfest 5K, and was part of the 25th (!!) annual Bockfest weekend. It was the 4th time I ran the Bockfest 5K. I only missed the race in 2014.
This year I had 18 miles on the schedule with this 5K somewhere in the middle. I knew that I would not be super motivated to run far after the race, so I decided to try and knock out the majority of the miles before the race.

So I ran 11 miles with the Spot-ON training group (my friend Rebekah sent me the info, allowing me to join up with the group) and then two miles casually on my own before lining up at the starting line.
The race starts up hill. Considering I was already 13 miles deep into my run, I was not sure what my legs were going to want to run. Standing at the start, I decided that I would be happy with around 24 minutes.
Mile 1: 7:40
Mile 2: 7:14
Mile 3: 7:20
Last 0.1: 54s

23:08 total time for the 5K, which was tough, but I did not feel completely blown up, which I was definitely happy with. I know that my legs have more speed in them than that, and I am hopeful that I can actually RACE a 5K in 2017. Maybe Thanksgiving?

I finished up my long run with a 2 mile cool down.
