Yesterday I made a crock pot dinner. I had spent the entire day excited about it. I got the recipe off of the Whole Foods website here, and bought the majority of the ingredients from there as well. It was Slow Cooker Chickpea and Lentil stew, and I spent the time since finding the recipe excited about it and how it would taste and how comforting a nice thick bowl of stew would taste. I even took the suggestion have having naan on the side for dunking (plus a little extra calories since it was a vegetarian stew and we were skipping the yogurt!)
It just was NOT good. Maybe it was the garam masala, which is a spice I have never used before. Maybe I just don't like lentils (which is DEFINTIELY not true, because my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati makes a lentil soup that I adore!) Maybe it just really needed that yogurt topping. Whatever it was, neither J nor I were fans. And now we have at least 4 more bowls of it that pretty much need to hit the trash.
Oh well... you can't win them all, can you?
I did manage to get up at a reasonable time again this morning to get a run in. I decided to take advantage of a 60* morning in January and run outside in shorts and a t-shirt. It was WINDY! According to the weatherman the rain was coming in and soon, so I wanted to get it done as soon as I could so as to avoid the rain.
The wind was KILLING me this morning. It was rough. Mile 1 and mile 4 were along the same stretch of road where I was running INTO the wind. Mile 3 was completely done within a neighborhood with houses on both sides, which I think was blocking things at least a little bit. Regardless, this was a tough run, even at an easy pace, and I think my legs needed an easy pace after pushing them a little bit yesterday plus doing that Jillian DVD.
I at least THINK it was the wind + soreness that made me feel so slow today. I am really hoping it is not the pregnancy slowdown yet. I am not ready to slow things down yet. Karen says it will just happen, and I will have no control over it. I just am not ready for it to happen yet.
When I got home I hammered out a 2:30+ #plankaday, which was a pretty good one, felt great. I also started getting together snacks for J and I throughout the day. I packed us both some fruit, nuts, etc, hoping that it will keep him out of the M&M jar, something he has told me is a problem. I also made him a cleanse drink from the vitamix cookbook.
This contains 1 orange, 1/2 cup orange juice, 6 sliced radishes, 1 tsp of honey, and a 1/2 cup of ice. It looked and smelled like oranges, so I imagine it was good. :)
Did you have a productive morning?
