Christmas Shopping + my LR

Yesterday I very tentatively planned out the next year of my life. Granted, at this point, there is absolutely no way to do that. But if things worked out the way that I wrote them all out, it would be wonderful. But because of the nature of the lives that J and I lead lately, we cannot predict this just yet. I am working on it.

Karen and I have plans for this afternoon. We are going to have lunch together and then do a little Christmas shopping. That is how we roll, I guess. We are going to Cheesecake factory. We are both planning on having a piece of cheesecake, so we have planned all of our meals around it to allow us our cheesecake as a lunchtime dessert. Bradley (Karen's son) is coming with us, obviously. He recognizes me now, I guess. At least that is what Karen says, because when we are together he is just staring at me. I like that, it makes me feel good.

Saturday's 8 miler was a good one. I feel like I should talk about that now since I didn't really in any of my entries over the weekend. I met up with my run group at 8 am, as I stated previously. It was the first weekend of tights for everyone. My tights are very long. My socks always go all the way up to the bottom of the tights, even when I am only wearing tab socks. But the guys always seemed to have like 2-3 inches of bare leg in between their socks and their tights. Is that normal? I have no idea...  Karen (because she is crazy!) was just wearing crops! I had gloves, tights, socks, headband (covering ears) my fleece lined pullover, etc on to keep me warm. When we first got started my hands were FREEZING.

It took a really long time to get them warm enough that they were not numb. And here Karen was taking her gloves off while my hands and feet were still feeling numb!

Mile 1 - 9:01
Mile 2 - 9:07
Mile 3 - 9:08
Mile 4 - 9:04
Mile 5 - 8:53
Mile 6 - 8:56
Mile 7 - 8:51
Mile 8 - 8:52
Average pace of 8:58

I was pretty pleased with this being a run where I had absolutely no goals. I was just looking forward to getting out there in the cold with the group and getting a good run in. I felt that I needed some more security in my running. And this run helped me to feel good about things.
